🌅 Morning Market Update | 22 October 2025
📈 Major indices in the US and Europe are trading slightly higher after the DJIA hit a new record, with investors awaiting earnings from SAP and Tesla.

🎬 Netflix shares tumbled 6% in after-hours trading after missing Q3 expectations. Revenue came in at $11.51B vs $11.52B forecast, and EPS at $5.87 vs $6.94 expected. A one-off tax charge in Brazil cut its margin to 28%. Still, the company guided higher for Q4, forecasting $11.96B in revenue and a 29% margin, noting “healthy” user activity and optimism about its growing ad business.
🏦 ECB’s chief economist Philip Lane warned that eurozone banks face risks from potential USD funding tightening, as dollar liabilities make up 28% of their balance sheets. He called for closer supervision of such exposures.

🇯🇵 Japan’s exports rebounded 4.2% YoY in September (forecast 4.6%), supported by demand from Asia and the EU, though shipments to the US fell 13.3% amid new tariffs. Imports rose 3.3%, pointing to solid capital investment. The data strengthen expectations of further BoJ tightening.
🇮🇳 India and the 🇺🇸 US are nearing a major trade deal that could cut tariffs on Indian goods from 50% to 15–16%, reduce Russian oil imports, and open doors to GMO corn. The agreement may be signed at the upcoming APEC Summit.
💱 In forex, the dollar is slightly weaker as traders shift from safe havens (JPY, CHF) to risk assets.
