Asia
Asia-Pacific markets mostly rose Tuesday after a strong tech rally in the U.S. Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.84% to 34,267.54, and the Topix index rose 1% to 2,513.35.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 climbed 0.17% to 7,761.70.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.23% to 21,466.27, while China’s CSI 300 ended flat at 3,761.23.
US
U.S. stocks edged lower on Tuesday as investors digested new first-quarter earnings and the recent reduction in market turbulence.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 155.83 points, or 0.38%, closing at 40,368.96. The S&P 500 fell 0.17% to finish at 5,396.63, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.05%, ending at 16,823.17. The three indexes had gained in the prior two sessions.
Commodity
Gold prices rose on Tuesday, driven by safe-haven demand amid concerns over Trump’s tariff plans and a weaker dollar. Spot gold gained 0.7% to $3,232.88, while U.S. gold futures rose 0.6% to $3,245.00.
Oil prices slipped after the IEA cut its demand forecast, though losses were limited by Trump’s tariff exemption suggestion. Brent crude fell 21 cents to $64.67, and U.S. West Texas Intermediate dropped 20 cents to $61.33.
