Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.22%, while Japan's Nikkei 225 and Topix fell by 0.26% and 0.33% respectively. South Korea's Kospi climbed 0.44%, and the Kosdaq edged up marginally. Hong Kong's Hang Seng remained flat after a significant rise, while China's CSI 300 ended down by 0.7%. US U.S. stock futures edged higher Wednesday night ahead of another inflation reading. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 20 points, S&P 500 futures also gained, and Nasdaq 100 futures saw a slight increase. In after-hours trading, Robinhood surged 8% after reporting a rise in assets, while Fisker dropped 46% amid restructuring concerns. Wednesday's session saw mixed activity, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite slipping due to tech sector declines, while the Dow edged up. Investors await Thursday's producer price index report, the last major economic data before the upcoming Federal Reserve policy meeting. Commodity Crude oil futures surged on Wednesday after Ukraine targeted refineries in Russia, highlighting supply risks amid the conflict in Eastern Europe. The West Texas Intermediate contract for April rose 2.78% to settle at $79.72 a barrel, while the Brent contract for May added 2.58% to settle at $84.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, gold prices increased supported by a weaker dollar and expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut in June, despite higher U.S. inflation. Spot gold gained nearly 0.9% to $2,176.06 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures rose 0.7% to $2,181.80.
