Did Gold just confirm another bearish expansion — or is 4,200 becoming the liquidity trap?
Gold is trading around 4,220 after breaking below the 4,240–4,255 H1 Demand / SSL zone with clear downside displacement.
Macro Driver
The macro backdrop remains challenging for Gold.
The Fed has moved rates to 3.75%–4.00%, while elevated Treasury yields, a firm USD and persistent inflation concerns continue to pressure non-yielding assets.
Markets are also watching energy prices and geopolitical developments because another inflation impulse could reinforce expectations for tighter policy.
Today’s Fed speakers could add another volatility trigger.
H1 Market Structure
The structure has now shifted further bearish:
Lower High → CHOCH → BOS → Demand Breakdown
Key levels:
• 4,280–4,300 — H1 FVG / Supply
• 4,260–4,275 — Broken Structure
• 4,240–4,255 — Broken Demand / SSL
• 4,200–4,215 — Immediate Downside POI
• 4,150–4,165 — Major Demand
The key change:
4,240–4,255 is no longer clean demand.
If price retests this area from below, it can become a supply/mitigation zone.
Scenario 1 — Bearish Expansion
If Gold remains below 4,240–4,255 and fails to reclaim the broken demand:
4,220 → 4,200 → 4,190
A clean H1 displacement below 4,190–4,200 could expose:
4,150–4,165 Major Demand
The structure remains bearish while price stays below the broken demand.
Scenario 2 — Sweep & Reclaim
But the move is already extended.
If Gold sweeps 4,200–4,215 and prints a bullish MSS:
4,215 → 4,240 → 4,260
A stronger reclaim of 4,260–4,275 could open a deeper retracement toward:
4,280–4,300 FVG / Supply
This would turn the current selloff into a potential liquidity sweep rather than immediate continuation.
The Real Question
Is 4,200 the next destination —
or the liquidity pool that fuels the next H1 reversal?
Would you watch the 4,200 sweep first, or the 4,240 reclaim?
